RON POLLAK
I started business as an accountant (Deloitte). With the arrival of personal computers I formed Pollak Partners, a computer training business that in 1998 had 150 staff offering training nationally. In 2000 I went into Management and Sales training and in 2020, used the experience I had gained to commence a coaching and small-group training business.
Above is my history. But, it doesn't tell you who I am.
My DISC Profile shifts from Conscientious to Dominant, but some people accuse me as having a Steadiness profile, as I like to help people. I certainly like being busy and I've been called a change agent. So Dominant is probably right and I am really results oriented. However, I am a believer in the importance of details and their part in ensuring thoroughness and accuracy - a definite strength of a Conscientious profile.
You see, I understand how to change my hat to change my mindset for different ways of working. (See De Bono's 6 Thinking Caps.) And to be honest, I struggle with the Influencer hat. I'm not normally enthusiastic nor do I build relationships easily. But that's okay. I don't stress over it. I manage it by developing bonds with Influencers and feed off them. (Sorry if I have offended a colleague here.)
I'm grateful to Simon Sinek, whose model - The Golden Circle - has helped me understand my motivation to be a coach. My WHY I do what I do, is easy for me to define - I am driven by my desire to help people. It's a simple and clear motivator for me.
When I am not at work, I thoroughly enjoy family time - ten grandchildren keep me entertained, through my three children and their wonderful spouses - not forgetting a wonderful wife of 45 years of marriage (2023).
I am blessed with good friends - some of whom I walk with Bondi to Bronte in the morning (the source of the photos in this web site). And play golf (mid range handicap.)
